Information About Full Body Scanners

By Edward Reed

Insecurity has forced technology to grow faster than it could be. The is always a need for ensuring that people gathering at a particular place are always protected owing to the increased cases of terror attacks and possession of unacceptable devices. This makes it important that one gets general facts regarding full body scanners.

These scanners are unique items that have the potential of identifying what one has carried within them without the need of checking them manually. They have found the place in many places where they have taken the part of metal detectors. They have become a must to be having them in airports, and they have been able to replace the metal detectors that were used initially.

There have been growing concerns of terror attacks especially in the passenger planes over the years. A couple of air crashes that have been caused by the problem of people carrying items that they are used to harm passengers. Drugs have been finding their way past boarders since they go unnoticed during the inspection. These two issues have forced the application of this technology.

In every airport, it should not be a surprise to meet any gadget in the form of a door that one is forced to pass through. These items make use of the technology of laser beams and x-rays where a ray of a particular wavelength passes through the body from head to toe. Through this, an animated image of the person scanned becomes visible to the security personnel.

The device can operate in two different manners. There are those that just displays the image of the person, and it takes the observation of the security personnel to check out if there are any suspicious items carried. On the other hand, there are those that are better since they can be able to detect any unauthorized device and to send a signal ahead.

Body scanners have been able to be the ultimate substitute of gadgets that were used to detect metals. These machines advantage over metal detectors is that they can be able to identify a wide range of materials made from different materials including drugs. This is unlike metal detectors which can only detect metallic materials.

Despite the good job that these devices have made possible over the years, there are groups of individuals who seem not to have a place for them. There are those who claim that overexposure may be a reason for cancer development. Another group, are afraid that their privacy is normally overlooked when the image is displayed on the screens during the scanning process.

All in all these drawbacks that seem to come with these devices should never be an issue since privacy has been well solved owing to the oath of privacy that each staff has to take before undertaking their roles. By this, therefore, the personal details that can be observed during the scan will only be confidential between the individual and the security people. The aids that have come with this system have been effective.
