Information On The Tony Chavis For Sheriff Campaign

By Arthur Moore

There are often a number of candidates running in any election, whether local, national or regional. When it comes to Darlington, South Carolina, there are multiple candidates. One of which is that of Tony Chavis, a retired South Carolina State Highway Patrol officer. Mr. Chavis is running for Sheriff because of a desire to strengthen community safety while building stronger ties with police organizations.

A retired patrolman, Tony worked for the South Carolina Highway patrol until retiring in 2016. As the candidate hopes to become Sheriff, the former trooper is now hoping to obtain votes in local elections. To do so, the candidate will need as many votes as possible as the race is being challenged by others in the race.

A family man, with a loving wife, one son and four daughters, discipline is nothing new. Being the son of the late Audrey and J. W. Chavis, the man is well known in the area. Being so well known, is most likely because of having spent a great deal of time socializing with family, friends and community members over the course of a lifetime.

In early life, Tony graduated from Wallace High School, then played football for South Carolina State University. After which, Mr. Chavis graduated from the S. C. Academy of Justice. While this is the case, Tony has continued with educational goals, thus resulting in several certifications in the area of law enforcement.

While serving only minimal time, Tony also served for the U. S. Marine Corp. It remains uncertain as to why the Marine only served a year between 1990 and 1991. If voters are curious as to why, then looking up Mr. Chavis in public records will most likely provide this knowledge.

Other involvement includes being an active part of the community by contributing to non-profits and other organizations. For example, the candidate is often the first to make donations when it comes to local organizations and sponsored events. As such, Mr. Chavis is also well respected among a number of non-profit organizations and community groups.

One plan that sets this candidate apart from others is the belief that crime ridden areas can be reformed. Tony also believes that educating children early on with relation to law enforcement and community can help prevent crime before it begins. As such, the candidate plans on continuing the current program of presentations at schools and universities throughout the state.

In addition, the candidate sees citizens as the first priority against crime though the use of security systems, web cameras and neighbor watch groups. If elected, Tony also plans to enhance and bring more technology to the office. After which, it is hoped that more cold case and other crimes will be solved more easily than with existing options.

Always focused on law enforcement, community and education, the former highway patrol officer wants to continue to strengthen ties between residents and police. In addition, the belief that partnering with community organizations, businesses and other agencies is impressive to a number of voters. As such, it is these people the candidate hopes will get to the polls and vote in local elections this coming November.
