By Laura Gibson

More people are finding the benefits of eating more plants, as they offer high levels of common nutrients like potassium and selenium. However, many forget that meat and poultry products of today are not only nutritious but have a lot of flavor. Instead of trying to live off of meat substitutes, more people are giving allnatural grass fed beef a try.

Not a Food Trend

These days, many rave about the taste and the exclusivity of consuming grass fed food products. However, there was a time when all meats and dairy products were made from animals that ate plants as part of their regular diet. It is just that once industries began to take over, animals were fed more grains and other things that were not as nutritious. While this kept costs down, it also meant that necessary nutrients were missing.

Even though many factors played a part in most turning to a vegetarian or vegan diet, there was often something missing. Nutrients, like iron, that is found in beef and other proteins. While some could be found in grainy or starch based dishes, these are not ideal for anyone looking to lose weight by cutting calories.

The Best Diet is a Balanced One

It is becoming common knowledge is that if a person wants to lose weight, they have to eat real food. Over the years, consumers have been subjected to bizarre eating habits that claim to help them drop the pounds. The problem is often that the loss is temporary and the person might as well have gone on a crash diet, since the excess eventually returns.

Grass fed products, whether it be beef, dairy, or poultry, offer many benefits essential to any balanced diet. When a person utilizes portion control and sensible preparation, they will see the excess weight fall off. Additionally, by adding a good protein to any diet, consumers find that they have more natural energy. This alone is much more convenient than taking supplements or products that contain a lot of caffeine.

Convenience is the Key

When it comes to cooking a grass fed protein, preparation may be minimal. Sometimes just a dash of cracked pepper and garlic powder does the trick, or one can soak in a marinade overnight. Either way, a lean portion can be cooked thoroughly in as little as 20 minutes. Sometimes, it can take more time to prepare a vegetarian entree and often these do not keep as long.

Most people are finding they can have a healthy meal fast and not worry about a vegetable entree that may become soggy in the next day or two. Proteins are not only easy to make but retain their flavor over the next day or two. Additionally, it holds up well in the freezer and is ideal on days when a person does not feel up to cooking.

While some people are initially turned off by the higher price tag, more carnivores say the quality is worth the expense. The nutritional value is worth considering if one wants to get antioxidants into their diet. Good food has the power to heal, as well as tantalize the taste buds.
