A Tasty Treat With Kosher Granola

Dietary laws abound when it comes to producing a quality product where rules are strictly adhered to. Kosher granola is no different and is a healthier alternative when it comes to foodstuffs. Although there is a variety of ways it can be eaten, most include it with milk or yogurt.

There exists a complex set of instructions derived from the Torah both orally and written which describe the correct methods of making a product kosher or non kosher. These instructions are followed religiously and to the letter of the law. So that when an ingredient or product is bought and has the correct hecsher or validation from a rabbinical authority, it is assured that the product is permissible for consumption.

There are some rules that must be followed to ensure it is authentic. The cooking and preparation process must be watched and scrutinized that no other particles enters the cooking or production process. A person called a mashgiach must be present to supervise production and to check it thoroughly. This person must have obtained a certificate from the Jewish Rabbinical Court to provide this service and is well versed in all the laws pertaining to it.

A Beth Din is a Jewish Court of Law and is usually found in any city around the world where Jews coexist. This body or organization passes all laws that govern Jewish life and this also includes the dietary laws. A hechsher costs money so that usually products are a little bit more expensive than the same counterpart.

Granola is a sought after alternative on the go snack and is widely consumed by almost any sport person thinkable. It is lightweight and can be therefore carried easily especially for hikers, bicycle enthusiasts and long distance runners. Since it came into being its fame has spread like wildfire across the globe.

To prepare a really great tasting batch of granola is very easy. Mix together oats, nuts and various other seeds with butter or oil and then add maple syrup or honey. It is then baked to form a chunky mass which can be broken up into smaller chunks or granules and then consumed. It is crunchy which makes it feel as though you are really eating a wholesome meal.

The mixture of nuts and seeds and dried fruit, with butter or oil, are tossed together with honey or maple syrup and then allowed to bake to form a crunchy mass. Because of the honey or maple syrup addition, care must be taken so as not to burn the mixture when baking. Once the final product is ready it can be broken up into crunchy bits and added to practically any meal such as a sprinkled over a smoothie.

Other seeds can be used as said such as sesame, flax and even sunflower or pumpkin seeds. It is all a matter of choice in producing a great finished product. Remember, that when it is bought off the shelf, a valid certificate of approval by the Beth Din must accompany the product. This is usually printed on the wrapper and is denoted by a varying symbols across the globe.
