Tips To Preparing Homemade Aromatherapy Heat Wraps

By John Fox

Aromatherapy has been used since time in memorial to reduce muscle tension and rejuvenate the body. Beyond working on your muscles, aromatherapy heat wraps boost your psych which invigorates your spirit. It is possible to offer therapy to yourself and still achieve excellent results. This saves you fees paid to commercial therapists as well as offer privacy and control over the process.

The substances used to provide the aroma will determine the materials you will need. Their quantities depend on body size and how these substances react once they come into contact with heat. The normal size of fabric used is an 8 by 30 inches cloth. You need two fabrics to effectively accomplish this mission. Other materials include a needle, thread and essential oils. Rice is the most common aroma provider in addition to herbs. Personal preferences determine the best combination.

The choice of fabric determines the level of satisfaction with therapy. The most common fabrics include Muslim, cotton, denim and Flannel. The fabric should be tightly woven to hold the substances you use to produce the aroma from falling off. It is possible to recycle old t-shirts, towel, jeans or even socks because they provide an excellent circular feel. Ensure that the size of chosen fabric will cover the intended area.

Filling substances determine the width of fabric to be used. The length should fit the targeted wrapping area. Leave some room to hold and tie the hot wrap when placing it on the body. The fabric should allow the aroma to sip out after heating. This is why not all fabrics fit this task.

Sew the fabric to allow aromatic substances to be filled. Turn the fabric inside out and sew as close as possible. If the sewing is wide, the rice and other substances might leak out. Leave an opening on one end when sewing to facilitate filling. The sewn fabric should be attractive enough as sight is part of therapy.

Avoid the use of instant rice especially if you are using the microwave for heating purposes. The rice easily gets cooked which may affect the effectiveness of therapy. Ensure that substances used are not easily destroyed by heat. Do not over fill the wraps since it might prove difficult to wrap. Substances like essential oils are added according to user instructions. You may opt for a single aroma or a combination as long as it produces desired results.

The wrapping fabric is sewn together after rice and other aromatic substances are added. Heating takes 30 seconds at most up to the desired temperature. Between the heating intervals, shake the fabric to redistribute and activate the oils. The wrap is then placed around the neck like draping for the therapeutic feel.

Therapy remains an enhancement procedure and must never be used in place of treatment. Control heating temperature to avoid scalding the skin. Do not place the wrap on sensitive body parts or open wounds. A relative or friend assisting you will make the process faster, more effective and relaxing. Avoid losing heat between the microwave and wrapping.
