Here Are Facts Regarding Hunting For Alligators

By Frank Stone

Hunting is the act that involves the capture and killing of wild animals and in other words the wildlife. The history of hunting did not just begin a few years back but dates way back to as almost where the humans started. Hunting as a source of livelihood was most sought by the people in that, it provided them with food and animal products e. G. Leather which is used to make sleeping and clothing material. It can be said that the activity has been a practice of the humans for a very long time. Here are facts on hunting for alligators.

In the modern world people still hunt. The only difference is that the methods are advanced and the activity is a controlled in most jurisdictions. One requires a permit to hunt any kind of game in most western countries, especially in the US. Alligators are no exception in this case. Hunting of gators mostly takes places in the southeastern states of the US.

The highest numbers of gators are found in various states of the US. This means that they would pose serious threat to human safety if left uncontrolled. The states include Arkansas, Florida, Texas, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Residents of the mentioned states are issued with licenses to hunt these reptiles. Most of the time the hunting period lasts for about a month.

The other state of the southeaster states whereby Gator hunting is illegal and especially if one is not a legal employee of the wildlife service is North Carolina. It is a requirement by the law that if anyone comes across the alligators they should report to appropriate authorities for action. These animals are considered as protected species and anyone found hunting is guilty of charges.

Like any other application there are requirements that are needed for the person applying for the license. These details which are personal may include name, date of birth and social security number. They are filled in an application form which is accompanied by a fee. The fee varies from different states.

When one is issued the license, there are specifications to be followed. These are the area range whereby one supposed to do the hunting, the limit of gators that are supposed to be hunt and the date to stop the exercise. The end of the exercise comes with the expiry of the license. Any person that is found disobeying the law will pay fine or some other measures.

As had been stated above, the increasing population of the gators causes a security threat to the humans thereby causing conflict. This can be supported by the fact that alligators lays many eggs during every season and this multiplies their generations. This provides a situation whereby alligators go into the human space leading to conflict. Alligators are therefore termed as dangerous animals.

In this part of the world, the annual hunting culture has risen due to the healthy number of gators. Apart from this, gators are hunted for their skins. People use their skins to make a wide range of products. The products include leather jackets, shoes, watch handles, bags, and hats.
