Stand Up Paddle Western New York Boards And Paddles

My partner and I chose to shed some weight about a year ago, but because I have asthma I have problems doing any vigorous and high impact exercise like walking, running, and jogging. I love the water, and I enjoy the outdoors, so we decided to try a fairly new sport that we had heard about from my husband's brother Mike who lives in Southern California. It's called stand up paddle boarding. Most people like to use their surf boards and just buy a paddle since a SUP is basically a surfboard and a Paddle Western New York, but a lot of your newer SUP's have a nonslip surface on the top, so you don't need to use Surfwax on it.

Extremely thrilling: Standup paddling can be extremely joyful and thrilling. It is very safe and secure, and is one sport which will really make you go craving for more. It comes as no surprise that more and more people are waking up to its thrills, and almost all the water bodies these days seem replete with such paddlers. It has proven to be quite a fun activity.

Before beginning the paddling exercise, it is important to have the appropriate gear. This includes a PFD or Personal Flotation Device and proper clothing. For cold conditions, wearing a wetsuit or dry suit is recommended to avoid hypothermia. In other conditions a bathing suit or shorts and a T-shirt is appropriate. The clothing should be able to move with the individual. Wearing sunscreen and sunglasses is also recommended.

My husband, on the other hand, is quite a bit shorter than I am and got the hang of everything a lot quicker though he did jab himself with the longer oar more often.

It also improves or strengthens the arm and leg muscles. A half-hour workout will work as well or better than most gym workouts; and its much more fun. This fast-growing sport is an easy way to enjoy being on the water, using minimum effort and equipment.

Helps you socialize: Paddling in Standup form helps you socialize. It is a perfect way to gel with your friends and colleagues and skid through the waters in their happy company. So, if you crave for some social company and are bored of those cliched hangout bars and malls, then try to set up a peer group of paddlers. It would be something to remember for the rest of the life.

When leaning how to oar board, there are some common mistakes that people make. The mistakes can take the fun out of the boarding experience. One big mistake is the posture. A hunched poster will hamper the experience and cause discomfort. Keeping the back straight and the shoulders level is important.
